Debbie is originally from Leicestershire, but came to Leeds in 1997 to go to University and has never moved back! After completing her PGCE at Leeds University, she went travelling around South East Asia visiting many countries such as: Thailand, Malaysia, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Singapore and Indonesia. She then travelled around Australia working and chasing the sunshine!
During her time away, she experienced scuba diving, kayaking, trekking, mountain climbing and hot air ballooning. After a year and a half, it was time to come home and settle down to teaching life. Her first job was in Castleford where she worked for over 9 years. She worked in Year 1 for over 2 years and then Reception for 7 years; during this time, she became Early Years Foundation Stage Leader.
Debbie has two children of her own (aged 6 and 3). After a few years of juggling home life, work life and commuting, Debbie made the decision to leave her long term job and become a supply teacher. This was a lovely period in her life where she could enjoy her own children but also enjoy teaching and experience lots of different school settings in the Leeds area.
When the opportunity arose to work at Dixons Trinity Chapeltown, Debbie was excited to have her own class again and also enthusiastic to be a part of something very special, right from the start, in the Chapeltown Community.
