Year 7 debating team wins regional heats

Posted 3rd May 2019

The Dixons Trinity Chapeltown Year 7 Debating Team have been working very hard, researching and preparing for the delivery of a debate on the topic of Brexit's impact on animal welfare, hosted by the RSPCA and held at Leeds Civic Hall at the end of April. The team represented the school in the regional round of the competition in April 2019 where they were up against seven teams from across the North, including some fee-paying schools.

In the face of some really tough competition, including from older students, we are pleased to announce that the team won the regional heats! This is a fantastic achievement which came as the result of a hard work, dedication and practice. We look forward to hearing how they perform at the national finals, which take place at the Houses of Parliament in June. We wish them all luck.

Mr Clough, who has been working with the team said:

"I'm really pleased with how the team performed and proud of their achievement in getting to the finals. I know they will be fantastic!"
