#ChangeNeedsAllOfUs: Supporting Race Equality at Dixons Trinity Chapeltown

Posted 9th February 2026

At Dixons Trinity Chapeltown, we are committed to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion in everything we do. As part of Dixons Academies Trust, we believe that all children, regardless of background, deserve access to an education that maximises their potential and prepares them to thrive in later life. Our mission emphasizes high expectations for every pupil, alongside values of fairness and respect for all.

From 2-8 February 2026, we supported Race Equality Week, a national initiative with the theme #ChangeNeedsAllOfUs. This campaign encouraged reflection on how we can collectively challenge and address racial inequality in our communities.

Although the formal Race Equality Week activities were led at Trust level and did not include direct pupil workshops in school, we used the week to highlight the importance of equality, belonging and mutual respect to our families. Across Dixons Academies Trust, staff were invited to engage with a five-day Race Equality Challenge focusing on key themes such as stereotyping, the bystander effect, communication differences, allyship, and personal commitment to change. These themes support our continued work to build a culture in which every member of our community feels valued, heard and respected.

A Shared Focus on Mastery, Autonomy and Purpose

Race Equality Week aligns naturally with our school drivers:

  • Mastery - by developing understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion, we help our pupils and community deepen their awareness of how attitudes and behaviours shape experiences.
  • Autonomy - by encouraging individuals to reflect on their own actions and choices, we support our community in taking personal responsibility for promoting fairness and inclusion.
  • Purpose - by focusing on collective responsibility and shared values, we reinforce our commitment to building an inclusive learning environment that celebrates difference and supports every pupil to succeed.

Embedding Equality in School Life

Race Equality Week reinforces our ongoing work to foster a culture of inclusion at Dixons Trinity Chapeltown. This includes how we approach curriculum planning, pastoral support and daily school life to ensure that all pupils feel represented and respected. As part of the Trust’s broader strategy, schools continue to build understanding of equity, challenge discrimination and promote inclusive practices that reflect our diverse community.

We recognise that meaningful change requires ongoing effort, and Race Equality Week serves as an important moment to reflect together and reaffirm our shared commitment. By continuing this work throughout the year, we aim to ensure that every pupil at Dixons Trinity Chapeltown feels valued, supported and empowered to achieve their very best.
