Community comes together for a special Iftar celebration!

Posted 10th March 2026

Families, students, staff and partners from across the Dixons Trinity Chapeltown community came together on Wednesday 4 March for a special community Iftar, marking the holy month of Ramadan with reflection, generosity and togetherness.

The academy’s family dining room was transformed for the evening, creating a warm and welcoming space where the community could gather, break their fast and celebrate the spirit of Ramadan. Guests enjoyed a range of delicious food, with families sharing a meal together following the opening of the fast with dates and drinks.

The event began at 4:30pm as families arrived and were welcomed into the academy. Throughout the evening, students played a central role in the programme. They spoke thoughtfully about the significance of Ramadan and what the month means to them, recited verses from the Qur’an and shared stories that reflected the values of compassion, reflection and gratitude that define the holy month. The programme also included a talk from the Imaam, time for personal reflection, and Maghrib prayer, bringing the community together in a moment of shared faith and gratitude before dinner was served.

Events like this reflect the strong sense of belonging that sits at the heart of the Dixons community. Bringing families, students and staff together to share meaningful moments strengthens the partnerships that support our young people to thrive both inside and outside the classroom.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who helped make the evening possible. Our gratitude goes to staff, student volunteers and families who supported with organisation, setup, food and donations. Special thanks go to Bushra Javed, the Akhirah team, Yasin Catering, the Imaam, Salma, Iram, Kam, Megan and Rebeca, as well as the students who spoke so confidently during the programme - Rayaan, Omar and Zak.

The event also supported charitable giving during the month of Ramadan. In partnership with the Akhirah Foundation, the community came together to raise funds for charitable causes. Last year, donations from the Iftar event helped provide essential educational equipment for students in The Gambia, and this year families were again encouraged to give Sadaqah, Zakat or Hadiya to continue building a meaningful Dixons Trinity Chapeltown legacy.

The evening was a wonderful reminder of the power of community, people coming together to share blessings, support one another and celebrate the values that unite us.

We look forward to celebrating more events together over the coming months.

For those celebrating later this month, we wish you and your families a joyful celebration. Eid Mubarak.
