The Bebras Challenge scores are in!

Posted 16th December 2025

Recently our students have taken part in the Bebras Computational Thinking Challenge during their computing lessons. Bebras, meaning ‘beaver’ in Lithuanian, was chosen as the name as the animal is lively, hardworking and intelligent, much like those taking part!

The competition consists of various online puzzles and interactive tasks designed to encourage logical thinking and problem-solving skills and takes place over two weeks in November worldwide. Last year over 3 million students from over 80 countries participated!

All 146 of our students who got involved this year were rewarded for their efforts, not just those atop the leader board. The tasks are designed to give the opportunity to every participant to show off their skills, whether they excel in maths or computing (or neither), and are given a certificate and house points depending on their placing. Each age group has a ‘Best in School’ to reward the top scorer, and only the top 25% nationally will gain a distinction.

For our junior category it was a three-way tie! Malaika Arslan, Ayesha McCourt and Fatimah Safi all scored 89 points and made their way to the top. Our intermediate winner was Ahmed Mohamad with 100 points, and at the peak for our seniors was Hawa Mahmood with 88 points. The 39 students who completed the competition with a distinction grade can also take part in round two, which could end with them visiting Oxford!

A huge congratulations to our competitors for their hard work and for truly embodying the Dixons core values.
