Despite a rainy start to the day, our Year 5 pupils represented the school with outstanding commitment, skill and sportsmanship at the Dixons Cup tournament. Both the girls’ and boys’ teams competed with enthusiasm and determination, clearly demonstrating mastery of key football skills as well as excellent teamwork throughout the event.
The girls’ team delivered an exceptional performance, finishing the tournament with 10 points. They won all of their matches, securing impressive 2–0 victories against DAA Jemison and Manningham, and earning a hard-fought 1–1 draw against DAA Curie. Their confident passing, strong defensive play and clear communication on the pitch reflected their growing mastery of the game and their ability to work effectively as a team.
The boys’ team also performed excellently, finishing with 8 points and tying with DAA Jemison and Manningham overall. They showed resilience and consistency in two closely contested draws against Manningham and DAA Jemison, before securing a well-earned 2–1 victory against Marchbank. Their performance highlighted their mastery of tactical play, teamwork and perseverance in challenging conditions.
Throughout the day, all pupils demonstrated excellent sportsmanship, supporting one another and respecting their opponents, even in difficult weather. We are extremely proud of both teams for the mastery, cooperation and effort they displayed while representing our school so positively.
