Emma Hickey

All Through Principal

Emma is a passionate linguist and graduated from the University of Liverpool with a degree in Modern European Languages in 2009, after spending time studying at the Aix-Marseille University in France and University of Valencia in Spain. Emma joined the Teach First programme in 2009, inspired by their missing of addressing educational disadvantage, and spent her first three years of teaching as a teacher of French, German and Spanish at a secondary school in Bradford. During this time Emma also gained her master’s degree in educational leadership from the University of Manchester.

Emma then moved to Kings Science Academy, which then became Dixons Kings Academy in 2012 and Emma remained there until 2022. During this time, she worked as a middle leader building and leading a highly successful modern languages department and later worked as a senior leader. Emma led on attendance, quality of education, student experience and safeguarding during her time as vice principal and senior vice principal at Dixons Kings Academy.

Emma joined Dixons Trinity Chapeltown Academy in January 2023 as trust senior vice principal to lead on behaviour and attitudes. Emma was then appointed as head of secondary in September 2023 to lead the secondary phase of the academy. In September 2025, Emma was appointed all through principal at Dixons Trinity Chapeltown Academy and remains wholly committed to challenging educational and social disadvantage.
